In order to build a temporary helicopter hangar to hold the machines during a sub-antarctic winter a level site is required.

A large recent land slip, close to the hut site offered a relatively level site. It still required some prep work.

Monitoring has filled a large amount of our time outside of baiting operations.

It has included population density measurements on ground birds, establishing baselines for moths and other invertebrates present.

The work will help us understand the extent of benefits from baiting as well as any short term negative impacts on non-target species, providing valuable information for future operations.
