Here is a routine to open your hips. Do it anywhere and any time you have 10 minutes. It feels great. Lizard, Pigeon, Frog, Double pigeon, Warrior II, Triangle.

This pose opens the front of the ankles and the quadriceps. Fixed firm pose is a therapeutic pose for the knees. It opens the knees and aligns all the parts within the knee. Be gentle with your pose and honor your body. It can be very intense so only go as far as your body allows that day.

This is a great back bend. It is the first backbend in the floor series of the hot 26 or bikram sequence. It warms up the spine to prepare it for bigger bends to come,

In this shortened edition of a full free yoga class we get a lot into 30 minutes. So if you don't have a whole hour or hour and a half, this will be great for you. The Triangle pose in the Bikram yoga hot sequence is different than the Triangle pose in a vinyasa flow yoga class. When I see a student in a vinyasa class bend the knee, I know they practice Bikram. While I am not certain, I believe that the vinyasa style is called Utthita Trikonasana which means "extended triangle". So if that is true, then the bikram triangle pose is actually correct. Extending your leg makes it Utthita trikonasana.

This is the first pose after savasana after the standing series in the Bikram yoga sequence. Wind removing pose is intended to open up your hips. I love trying to get my entire spine down on the mat when I bring both knees into my chest and squeeze.

Handstands are a fun way to build strength in the body. They are thrilling and scary at the same time. You need core strength to hold the body together and shoulder strength to hold the weight up in the air. The mental aspect of handstands helps off the mat. If you can breath calm and even while upside down, you will reap the benefits. It builds a lot of heat in the body. You can only practice for a couple of minutes at a time before you get tired.
